This. It's easy to forget that Disney didn't become as powerful as they are due to original ideas but rather their groundbreaking EXECUTION of beloved literary classics. Now in the 2020s, WDAS is probably the least ambitious of the mainstream U.S. animation studios, with many agreeing that their most recent efforts tend to be hella generic. I love Encanto, but even that falls into some familiar trappings. Still, it's insane how slow Disney's been at doing more with their one success so far this decade.
