>The Brits had a hand
The fuck are you on about? The British merchant Glover supplied over 80% of the guns and cannons used by Satsuma and Chōshū for the 1868 civil war. He made the sales in 1865, just two years after the British bombardment of Kagoshima. Satsuma domain had been so impressed by the British that they wanted British made guns and cannon. Glover also helped Itō Hirobumi and the rest of the Chōshū Five visit London in 1863. Those key future leaders of the Meiji government were studying in London. Hirobumi would go on to become the First Prime Minister of Japan. Inoue Monta became the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Yamao Yōzō became the Minister of Public Works. Endō Kinsuke led the Japan Mint. Inoue Masaru became the first Director of Railways in Japan. Why don't you actually learn Japanese history before commenting on it?
