Even the most Eastern parts of Podlaskie voivodeship feel closer to Germany to me than any place I've been to in Russia.

Wouldn't call it weird but it's very monotonous. Endless taiga and long, entirely straight roads with very little traffic, mostly wood transporters. It was an unusually cold and cloudy summer too, with temps going as low as -8 degress in Northern Koml.
