>A common theory is that after VII, they wanted to use their cash reserves from Neptunia's success to fund "hobby" projects of sorts
I actually remember hearing about this, and honestly I had no issues with it at the time since after experiencing what was and still is the best game in the entire Neptunia series, I figured some smaller non-Neptunia games in between would be fine, if we kept up the quality of VII. The issue of course being that they did not keep up the quality of VII going forward.
>That they're finally greenlighting a new Neptunia mainline after all this time reeks of a desperate move; they realize that nothing they've tried is going to stick and this is their final card to play.
Can't wait to see how hard this crashes and burns, but I'll hold out the tiniest bit of hope that this turns out even moderately well.

>nowadays it's just a question of whether they'll deliver or not.
I mean taking a look at Sisters Vs Sisters, arguably the game most hit by censorship in the last few years, you tell me if they're delivering. In my eyes, not so much.
Cute Uni though.
