I'm not usually one to stereotype, but her writing team doesn't look like they're hired for skill as much as checking diversity boxes, these sorts of hiring policies used in the States hardly creates a loyal, invested group of writers. And Viv is probably a nightmare to deal with, but I digress.

I'm probably reading too much into the sigils, since I'm almost positive Viv stopped using actual veve in the show after catching such a backlash from the pilot days. Most of the sigils are just chicken scratch made to look Voodoo-y without actually drawing them. Kinda like what I do when I'm drawing them. While I'm not a practitioner (just someone who dipped their toes in during those rebellions teenage years), many people in my family believe in it as a consequence of living in the Gulf area near people who did practice. So I try to steer away from it out of old habit.

I think one of the main issues is that there was such a long hiatus between pilot and show. Viv switched gears, gained new faves, and the rest of us were left to our own devices. This of course meant people getting emotionally invested in particular characters and certain headcanons becoming really ingrained in the fandom...it wasn't ever going to end well for us. I think that's why there's such as chasm between those of us who have been following the fandom since the pilot (if not longer), and newer fans brought in by S1. While it's used as bait on /hhg/, you often hear the newbies bemoan how we're not 'real fans', because so many of us are disappointed with the direction of our faves. Then again, the show's viewer demographic swings very young now, and teenagers aren't known for their ability to differentiate quality from slop, so I digress.

When it comes to Al, I really just want him to be happy. I do t care how or with who, I just want to see him have some peace, as you say. Most people aren't born Cluster B, so I assume his background is rough, based on that I want him to experience unconditional love and friendship. Even if he's killed off, just give him that. Maybe that's just my misplaced sympathy, but it's what I want for him.
