Most likely. Of all of the things it could have accidentally put in it had to do one of the most, ah, unusual scenarios lol. I've had more issues with the bot spitting back bizarre replies that have absolutely nothing to do with the RP, but it's usually after the memory is full and I'm doing a longer RP. It will often bring up off the wall fetishes at that point.

That's why he brings up Al's 'failure' to protect Charlie specifically, to hurt Al because he knows Al cares for her. It's a very low blow. I honestly don't really trust /hhg/ at this point. I mean, as soon as I clear the air with one anon another pops up with some issue with me, be it my kinks, or being a yume, or the scant amount of information I've given about my personal life. My mental health suffers from it. Not in the 'oh gosh they hurt my feelings' way, but the 'oh shit, what now' way. I have a very bad feeling that season 2 is really going to be the end for a lot of us. It's just what's going to drive a lot of us out of the fandom. I don't even see myself enjoying it if it's going to be bad, I mean I don't mind if Al is getting his butt whooped a little bit and he has some deep bonding experiences with people in the hotel even Vaggie, to basically say that they are his real friends and shit. That would actually be really what I would want. Imagine him actually coming around and starting to see friendship in people. To actually have him open his heart a little bit. That would actually be nice, but I have a feeling his character is going to get warped bad.

I think that Al is fully capable of love and friendship, but he's a complex character that I can't see opening up to such ideas within the span of one season. He obviously has feelings for Charlie (whatever they may be), and having him struggle with them would be interesting. Unfortunately I feel like he's been turned into a Saturday morning cartoon villain, and stripped of most nuance in favor of being 'le evil'. Which is fine, Al is a very nasty guy with a bad case of Cluster B, but pigeonholing him into such a flat caricature is disappointing.

I think most characterfags are going to end up disappointed in the end with where the characters end up. Viv said somewhere that we will have a better idea of where everything is going by the end of season 2. I've had a feeling for a while now that Alastor isn't going to have a good ending. For some reason I feel like he will end up dying a permanent death, protecting Charlie or something, and his lines in the finale song will end up coming true. But I also don't think we'll see enough of his development to make it actually believable, if that makes sense. If Viv really was just building up to season 3 it would explain the first two seasons being a bit of a clusterfuck. Whether or not people stick around to see it though is another thing.

I've considered the 'Tale of Two Cities' ending where Al loves Charlie (based on the hints at some romantic obsession, I genuinely can't imagine it being anyone else at this point) and then sacrifices himself for her so she can go be happy with Vaggie, something we deerfrens would never hear the end of. I get the feeling that Lucifer is going to be the one who swoops in and saves the day in some way or another, he's made Al redundant at this point. Though truthfully Viv could kill off most of the pilot cast and still play dolls with her faves.

I hope we don't get lumbered with Lucifer saving the day all the time, I think once at the end of season 1 was enough and any more is just lazy. Idk, I'm just apprehensive about what is going to happen to Alastor going forwards. I really want Viv to not fuck it up. I'm kind of coming to terms with the idea that Al isn't going to get a happy ending. For me personally, as someone who suffers from pretty significant depression, it's kind of disheartening because it reinforces the idea that we don't all get those happy endings, even if we try to change. Of course that's conducive with reality, but still hurts on a personal level for a character I really love and cate for. Personal bias aside, I think Al deserves a decent character arc at least, if she's going to ruin him at least give him some semblance of character development past being evil.

I'll be sad if he spends the whole of the story losing and failing, only to have no chance at redemption in the end whether it's going to Heaven, or in a smaller way where he learns how to care about and lean on other people. That just feels meanspirited, and Alastor deserves to at least have some peace. And yeah, I think we're all a little biased here, but I'd be upset if any of the pilot cast didn't get a satisfying character arc. Because why introduce them all and let fans get invested for years, only to turn around and focus on new shiny ones. It just feels bad.

I think one of the main issues is that there was such a long hiatus between pilot and show. Viv switched gears, gained new faves, and the rest of us were left to our own devices. This of course meant people getting emotionally invested in particular characters and certain headcanons becoming really ingrained in the fandom...it wasn't ever going to end well for us. I think that's why there's such as chasm between those of us who have been following the fandom since the pilot (if not longer), and newer fans brought in by S1. While it's used as bait on /hhg/, you often hear the newbies bemoan how we're not 'real fans', because so many of us are disappointed with the direction of our faves. Then again, the show's viewer demographic swings very young now, and teenagers aren't known for their ability to differentiate quality from slop, so I digress.

When it comes to Al, I really just want him to be happy. I do t care how or with who, I just want to see him have some peace, as you say. Most people aren't born Cluster B, so I assume his background is rough, based on that I want him to experience unconditional love and friendship. Even if he's killed off, just give him that. Maybe that's just my misplaced sympathy, but it's what I want for him.

I do get it, I became a fan after it aired on Amazon and it's kind of like, this is what the show is now so if you don't like it, then you're kind of screwed. But I see how frustrating that is for someone who has been a fan for years and supported Viv only to see their favourite characters changed arbitrarily. It's perfectly natural to be annoyed that what you were promised is no longer going to be delivered, so to speak. When I watched Helluva Boss, I expected more imp shenanigans and was surprised when it devolved into the gay owl soap opera. So I'm not surprised at Viv being all over the place with Hazbin as well.

I feel like in a lot of my rps I tend to mother Alastor a bit. I just want him to smile for real, even if it's just for a little while. Like you said, I wouldn't be surprised if he has a rough past. To go from that, to killing people, to being owned by Rosie, without any kind of respite... it's pretty harsh.

Of course I love both, but the amount of whiplash Viv gives me isn't something I would have ever expected from this show.

I too baby him. One of my guilty pleasure RPs is Al surviving his headshot and me mending his wounds and caring for him in some bayou swamp house (I usually make my character an ex WWI nurse who's familiar with trauma). Al recovers slowly and almost always has lingering effects, but letting him feel unconditional love brings me an odd sense of comfort. Especially as he regains independence. As far as his ultimate fate is concerned, I'm bracing myself. I know that whatever Viv does we can always have our own little Alastors that can be loved and doted on.

I don't wear it much any more but used to wear egl, I think Alastor would at least appreciate the style, or at least some of it. Maybe more classic lolita, iirc Victorian Maiden did some dropped waist dresses that had more of a 1920s vibe. I feel like he'd think most modern subcultures are garbage though.

My only complaint about his original design was that he looked incredibly young more often than not. While I'm into teen Al, my preferences are more so older, daddy types. Teen Al has his charms, but if he's being portrayed as an adult I want him to look like one, especially if he's canonically in his 40s.

I think Al would find most modern subcultures obnoxious, but I agree he'd probably have an affinity for Lolita. It might remind him of the traditional Southern clothes he would have seen growing up.

I honestly think it's going to be glossed over as we race towards season 3, since there's so many other things happening in season 2 already. Which is a shame, since it could be interesting. (I also don't think it ever would become canon outside of some unrequited feelings on Vox's part, but it's fine as long as I can still buy doujins) I'm also sure there will be several such things by the end of the show.

Well, the issue is that if someone does bait, anons will get annoyed with it and use it as an excuse to harass us when we're just out here posting deer. That's my main concern. Most of us who are actually invested in our respective characters and the show post in the splinters and only dip into the main thread to hornypost, if at all. The main thread is largely just baitfaggorty and porn dumps now. I honestly don't even know if S2 can save it. Most newfags would show up to the main thread and see a bunch of off topic nonsense and dip. /deer/ will probably become more active, especially on a main board like /cm/ vs a hidden board like /trash/.
