Kris most of the time was a quiet sad loser who couldn’t have the confidence to speak to Susie at all despite actually crushing on her.

His negative and unsure mindset is the reason why the gremlin doesn’t visit Asgore, Rudy, Noelle, Susie, and other townsfolk.

He does the whole knife and creepy thing because he wants to be the cool and confidant guy, but he isn’t and is utterly lost in his thoughts to make any proper decisions. Or even act the way he wants to be.

We’re the only ones that actually make Kris act like someone who is confident in himself for once, even if he deeply regrets the stupid things and acts we’ve chosen for him to do. It’s still him at the end of the day. And he feels lost without us. So when we do Snowgrave, he feels more insecure in being so weak in his presentation that he allows us to take him over and do whatever path his mind is on.
