Starting to?
Just a small reminder as to HOW Ian Flynn got into the position of main Sonic writer.
>Flynn was a Sonic nerd in school, "nursed on SatAM and Archie" in his words. By his own admission he was low on the school's pecking order.
>Flynn starts writing Sonic fanfiction, which he posted to fanfiction.net in the early 00's.
>In college, Flynn writes a Sonic fancomic with a few other online fans. It was notable at the time for actually running a decent amount of issues.
>Inspired by the praise he received, and other fans (Jon Gray) being brought on the Archie series, Flynn sends a bunch of long scripts to Archie, hoping to be hired.
>Nothing happens, so he keeps sending them.
>Karl Bollers and Ken Penders leave the Archie series for their own reasons within the same year. Michael Gallagher had left a few years before. This leaves the series with no writer.
>The editor panics, and in a last-ditch effort, hires the guy who kept sending the stories.
>The fans really like his stories, especially by comparison to Penders' stuff. Flynn sets up a forum for users to ask questions. Eventually, by suggestion, he branches out into a podcast.
>The series is cancelled, and Flynn sits around for a month or so until he hears of a new IDW series. He asks his fans to spam around #Flynn4Sonic to guarantee him a spot in the new series.
>The IDW director loves Flynn's work, and brings him to Iizuka for the series pitch.
>Flynn writes IDW for a bit. People praise his work, thinking he's building up to some big revelations about the new IDW universe.
>With Forces a failure, Sega gives Pontac and Graff the boot, and decides to finally cave to fan-demand and make Flynn the official writer for the games.
