If you just use cosmetic mods then no. They recently updated the anti-cheat because of the actual hacking that has been going on lately so some people are getting error messages and then kicked out the game if using visual mods with the XXMI launcher(still no bans though). I've always used the old version of GIMI and haven't received any errors, etc., so it's something to look into if interested.
