They lost me definitively after the last region decided to fill itself with all the rejected ZZZ characters, and then dropped the fucking archon having a motorcycle out of nowhere and doing DmC shit with it.
Too bad, I was kinda hopeful after the sky break thing, since that was a plot thread hanging since the fucking scara event, but if Genshin is now just the trashcan of their other game I just don't feel like it anymore.

Playing other shit now, it felt like a breath of fresh air to not have to worry about daily and incoming patches and shit.

This game would actually be the GOAT if it wasn't a shitty asian gacha from chink land. How insidiously stupid and evil these lame ducks are. You can spend hundreds of dollars and get nothing you wanted, and not get anything useful as well, all in the name of chasing fake progress that doesn't matter.
I really can't think of anything else on earth like this other than just gambling at the casino, but being poor and addicted is not a good thing, and for a videogame to try and make you into both of these is really the most evil shit ever.
For this reason, despite being a beautiful game that is genuinely fun to explore. I give it a big fat F. It tries to inspire, it tires to bring joy, but its evil qualities are always just right beneath the rug looking to hurt and scam the player.

One problem with Genshin is that they never release different versions or rarities of the same character. Since day one, they have only released original characters with each patch. The problem with this method is that it's impossible to properly develop old characters and maintain the pace and cohesion of the storyline if you always need to shill something new every patch. The longer the game lasts, the more irrelevant characters we will collect. This is either because they will get old, out of meta, or were always irrelevant to the main plot.

Another jarring thing is that no playable character ever stays in the overworld. Although the world is huge and expansive, it feels empty and soulless because it is filled with NPC clones, and places related to playable characters are devoid of them. You can't interact with or even see the characters that drives this game outside of quests or the teapot.

Genshin I start the game and I fuck off run into a level 999 fuckgoblin and it tries to sell me a 9.99 beginners pack. It's the unfortunate Chinawank arc that every Hoyo game goes through. After Liyue is Inazuma which is a marked improvement. That said, I still like Liyue's terrain more than Inazuma's.

The lore and backstory of the world is interesting enough, and decidedly better than wuwa. The problem is that 95% of the game's story you'll consume isn't about that, it's an advertisement for the limited characters they want you to roll. These characters are devoid of meaningful flaws, are all friendly to the player and to each other, and are typically defined by a handful of popular anime tropes+their profession this also applies to wuwa and zzz for the record. Meanwhile story sequences are really low budget, pretty poorly paced with a bloated word count, at least 30% paimon dialog, and have a bizarre tendency to focus on insanely mundane minutiae (like tax codes, safety regulations, logistics for some shitty festival, etc) instead of the actually interesting aspects of the fantasy world or anything worth caring about.

Like, if you're a major lorefag, I understand liking that aspect of genshin. The fucked up thing about the game is that the cool part of the story (lore) is totally optional, whereas the unskippable mandatory story sucks ass. After almost five years of fat xiao's bullshit I'm personally pretty checked out.

Because the world/setting ultimately doesn't matter in WuWa. It exists strictly to house boss arenas and maybe occasionally be used for a cutscene outside said arena. In a lot of ways, HSR has the same issue. It's really hard to give a shit about a setting/world when you will realistically never see it again outside a throwaway event. Genshin can be straight aids lorewise but atleast they remember most of the festival holidays and make some sort of attempt to do revisit events for old regions.

Genshin: powerful system-level mechanics create synergies between characters that give it interesting teambuilding. Once you've decided on your team, combat doesn't play very well, with super simple kits and rather poor controls.
Wuwa: literally no system-level mechanics that create inter-character synergies, character elements are just different colored damage numbers. But characters have much more involved and complex kits, with a lot of room for optimization via cancels and quickswaps, and enemy design is generally less cancerous. Sweatier teams can get rather cuhrazy.

Genshin's teambuilding potential is unfortunately more vulnerable to powercreep than wuwa's more actiony combat, and once you've built your team the interesting part is mostly over.

Sorry but I actually played both games since launch, you've pretty clearly only played one. Wuwa's combat has multiple notable advantages.

Another example of how you don't really understand combat in these games. Proccing a special dodge in wuwa isn't primarly for le ebin slowmo, it's because characters have damage or effects tied to the progression of their normal attack chain, and dodge countering allows the combat designers to make normal chains that are actually relevant, because the counter can compensate for the chain being interrupted. Notice how shit yoimiya is with her backloaded damage and her DPS that tanks if she needs to dodge? Notice how hoyo basically never again released a DPS that relied on their entire normal chain? Hoyo realized that was a problem and implemented dodge counters in ZZZ.
