Gail Simone gets a lot of flack for this but honestly its not even bad.
She has written this kind of scene often and it usually just boils down to "character is less normal thing. Rest of the heroes accept it and don't treat it like a big deal, and you too should go about your day in tolerance".

Certainly better than Burnside Batgirl immediately after Simone run, where roommate is crying at the club about someone being mean and snapped at Barbara when she was trying to comfort her friend because "you can't really know how big of an issue this is".
