Anyone else playing test games with the new LoV rules?

Also, minor rules question that came up in pic related.

When a rule allows you to "ignore any or all modifiers to the attack's ballistic skill" that means I can pick and choose, right? As in, if I'm shooting into combat I can ignore the -1 to hit from shooting into a monster in engagement range, but still choose to take the +1 to hit for Hostile Acquisition/Fortify?
