Hi Kiara, I saw you were talking French food and in particular about galettes. Theyre pretty good, the one you were looking at is know as a Galette des Rois (King Cake). It's made for the day of Epiphany which is the day the three wise men visited Baby Jesus and presented him gifts of Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh. It also marks the twelfth day of Christmas.

He makes this one with pear, i've never had it with pear but it looks good. You can find these at French bakeries around the new year. Usually theres a figure, or token, hidden inside the galette which symbolizes how Joseph and Mary had to hide Baby Jesus because the evil king herod heard a newborn baby was the prophesized King so he started murdering all the newborn babies (so Joseph and Mary went to live in Egypt with Baby Jesus for a while until king herod's infanticide stopped.) When you cut the galette, if you discover the token, you become "king" for the day and you even wear a little paper gold crown.

It's pure Americana and it's tied for my favorite pie. You have some American in you so you might instinctually automatically love it as well. It's super easy to make too. You should try those recipes since your a great baker. Good job Kiara!
