Absolutely. Italian music is beautiful in terms of classical, orchestral, and opera, but asides from that it's not the most popular or most recognizable one. Tarantellas are kind of funny to listen to, but they feel like they're pub music.
Japan has diversified a lot and both retro and modern music for them has all of their soul in it. Way more than k-pop at least.

That's what I'm talking about! And the good thing is that this style of orchestral + asian music is still very, very popular in Japan thanks to videogames. People will just spend their time listening to beautiful compositions thanks to the exposure japanese media does. Though if we're being fair, the japanese got inspired by all types of cultures to create what they do now.

True, although if you already speak a roman language it's less impressive if you can sing in italian or even latin. Tango requires a different type of skill to really let the expression and emotion of the lyrics flow. Japanese is phonetic just like spanish, but it's got some hard R's that the japanese don't tend to use.
