Sure, they have left their contribution to the history but not as much as the Italians did worldwide. I don't even mind watching some Japanese movies at 3:00 AM on Rai 3 Cose Mai Viste series with world productions from the 40s to the 10s sometimes featuring Japanese style movies in both colors and black and white but they don't leave a sign beside the camera work. Also I remember I watched some freakish movie and of course it felt like a proto-JAV excuse of a movie, with some incel raping and drugging women, molesting his sister or mother or shit like that and I think it had some soap bubble scenes, that's what I remember from it, another one was about two lovers where the girl was the daughter of a businessman and wanted her father approval of her boyfriend, somewhere between romance and comedy, only funny part were the cheap cocktail bar scenes tho. Yes. Undoubtably, Italy easily has the busiest most relevant history out of any country in Europe. League of Cambrai was the original WW1, the Renaissance, University of Padua was the most prominent educational center in the entire world, Venice became the framework for maritime superpowers. Japan barely had any buildings above one story and had constant fires/earthquakes making them unwilling to do things like build forts or commit to big projects. Also like 85% of the population was subsistence farmers, so you had one city of any note (Edo) and the rest of the country which was detached and filled with peasants collecting night soil. It's like comparing dark age Germany to Byzantine.
