What's the best way to generate interest in a new quest?
I have a fleshed out idea for one, but there's an element I'm mixed on trying. The quest is based in an existing franchise, but I want to keep that under wraps and let players work out what it is for themselves.
I actually tried a few years back when I started what was supposed to be a short horror quest around Halloween on the fly. I dropped it because it drifted into being something bigger and I was in no way prepared for it, and on top of that engagement was very low. I'm also a complete newbie at writing quests in general, so that probably didn't help.
Would I be better off just being upfront about what it is from the get go?
