/tv/ - Superman 2025 has flopped so horribly that WB have introduced a new pricing model for VOD
Anonymous No.213641300
Superman 2025 is one of the better superhero movies. James Gunn, who excels directing comic book silliness, self-aware comedy, heartfelt theatricality and eccentric romance brings all his trademarks to this rendition of Superman. In fact, Gunn seems to enjoy writing a comic book extravaganza, with all the complementary crossovers these stories are famous for, a style which is commonly littered with good-natured jokes.

What makes Superman a compelling character is glorified in Gunn's sharp adaptation. He's particularly strong, passionately wise, a respectful leader, and refreshingly vulnerable. An alien who isn’t afraid to tap into emotion. This is supposed to be classic Superman, where Gunn mirrors his own humble optimism into a character that has always reflected back such positivity.

The action scenes aren’t just a complete mess of CG. Superman is essentially a super human that has to face enemies of merit, the biggest being an exact clone of himself, and his struggle has weighted meaning to it. There's a scene where Mr Terrific breaks into enemy HQ and the whole ordeal is of course settled. But these are all human enemies being dismantled with utter ease. The next scene is of Superman trying to keep a baby from drowning in lava with his famous superdog arriving in a timely manner to try to help. Of course, Superman easily defeats his human opponents, but a black hole? He has to be creative to save Krypto and a baby.
This is rising action straight out of a comic, and demonstrates Gunn’s attention to the source material.

This rendition of Lex is also his most layered depiction, with nuance and intelligence. He's particularly shrewd and continually masks his true plans. He throws temper tantrums just like his comic counterpart, and cries because Superman is better than him. This is the faux elegance of Luthor which crumbles when he is defeated. This is basically a spoiled rich kid battling a strong kid. After all, it’s capeshit.
10/10, capeslop.

If you can't speak English, the responsible thing to do is study thoroughly until you can. In the meantime, cease interacting with fluent English speakers, as they will not be able to understand what you're trying to say. Through this thoughtful action, you're making the world a better place. I'm rooting for you, Anon!
