>Is there a benefit to having the HUD that high up?
For the devs, there was. With the horizontal HUD in the Windy Valley TV screen, that HUD position allowed enough room for the SET Editor and CAM Edit text. In later builds, when they altered the HUD rendering code to make it display small letters and make it display vertically, the SET Editor text got in the way of the HUD. As a result, they made the SET Editor display code render it a few columns down, which made the info for certain objects display off-screen. In the AutoDemo, I edited the code to display the whole thing higher up, which is about what it should look like with the original HUD from early SA1 builds.
