>it's actually kind of amazing how Japan is completely allergic to anything relating to Sonic
They're not, as was already pointed out here >>542150008 and here >>542153489

>does anyone know why specifically?
You've been given the facts time and time again and still act willfully dishonest about the subject, while conversing with someone who has an axe to grind with "JP purists". You're once again going into conspiratorial territory. These are the facts:
>Yuji Naka said on Twitter that Sonic was hardly marketed in Japan
This is known. You can literally see the Tweet on his account, around the time Frontiers had its showcase at TGS 2022.
>SEGA of Japan was known for their arcade division, not its console market
This is known, as their arcades were popular while their consoles weren't, outside the Saturn. You've literally seen how abysmal the numbers were compared to SNES.
>former SEGA president Hayao Nakayama barely marketed the company's console side
Nakayama wanted SEGA to focus squarely on its Arcade division. This was what SEGA was popular for at the time; Nintendo dominated the console market in Japan. This is literally WIDELY known.
There is no "conspiracy" about Japan hating Sonic. You're concocting false narratives and wild theories in your brain that you want other biased parties to reinforce. The facts are plainly laid out right in front of you: SEGA did not market its consoles or properties well. SEGA consoles were unpopular. SEGA franchises (created by SEGA) were unpopular as a result. Puyo Puyo, Persona, Hatsune Miku, etc. are not SEGA creations. Sakura Wars was made by them, a game that debuted on their only popular console, which had 0 mainline Sonic games. Even then, that series died. Even Yakuza, contrary to how popular this general thinks it is in Japan, sells less than a million on average. Even RIGHT NOW, SEGA is not good at marketing their properties. It's not "partially due to this"; this is the full reason.
