Arguably DotA set the map design meta for them, so you're right about the map being from an RTS, but the single unit control makes it more of an ARPG than an RTS

Then you've got stuff like third-person mobas like Smite and Deadlock as well
So you kinda get out of the RTS/ARPG territory but maintain the overall gameplay loop
