I've been enjoying SAM a lot after installing the butterfly animation mods. I removed a great deal of them (the 123 stuff was too much) but just having a neat little animation for shinten and some other things has made it feel somehow better in a really superficial way. I did the same with AST. It's little things, but I'm having some fun after applying weightier skill effects to abilities that lacked oomph.

All this is to say, maybe you'll get some new joy if you try that route. Obviously it's not ideal and i totally get where you are coming from though. I was too late for SB AST (joined like 5 months before shb and never unlocked it) but enjoyed it in shb for what it was, and the devs just continued to take out things I liked about it like the sects. I feel like in 8.0 they're going to gut bard a ton as well
