even for an older language can't they usually do analysis on these things to determine if it's actual information or just gobbledygook?

i mean any writing system, any point in time, there's going to be some rhyme and reason if it's POSSIBLE to translate? common words, glyphs, whatever?

although take a page like picrel and it seems like there's TOO much repetition which is what you'd do if you got bored of making stuff up lorem ipsum style, so just kept writing "lorem lorem lorem" (nobody will ever know)
