Baseniis are heathier than most other dog breeds even with their specific issues. I met a 17 year old male and the owner said it wasn't that abnormal for the breed. I can't speak for Shibas.
>Most live in the Democratic Republic of the Congo There is approximately one dog in the DRC for ever 100 people. And if every dog in the DRC was a Basenji that would give approx. 1 million Basenjis
We have no numbers on pure Basenjis still in the Congo but it wouldn't be anywhere near that much. They survived so long in isolated villages. Whites last went to collect good specimens in very isolated areas in 2009-2013 for studbooks.
>The Shiba isn't an ancient breed...
It is since a ancient breed is one that has existed for thousands of years.
>And there doesn't seem to be any old skeletal remains of the Basenji breed with is suspicious.
Because they're from the third world Congo deep in isolated villages and the individuals on the market are all descendants from those spirited away by white people who wanted to preserve them in fear of being tainted by growing number of mixed dogs spreading. Studies done on their genome shows Basenjis are genetically closer to Dingoes and Wolves than other dogs. One example is possessing fewer genes that produces an enzyme that helps digest starch. Which points that they arose before the expansion of agriculture. They also look similar to some dogs depicted in ancient Egyptian tombs and inscriptions.
>They are definitely less combative and dangerous than Basenjis and maybe even the Shiba Inu.
Wolfdogs are banned in more places worldwide than even pitbulls. Again the only people who think these are a good idea are retarded furries who have huge boners for wolves. Basenjis are not banned in any country.

True, I just think they're interesting after seeing one. It's also possible they haven't changed much going by similarities with possibly related early dogs depicted in ancient Egypt and other cave paintings in Africa.
