Every pain, pleasure, sensation and place could be simulated. And if you're bored of safety it can be turned out and stuff can be randomized.

The fact that Star Trek has so few of these planets while every race seems to posses unlimited resources via energy to matter conversion and perfect replication of reality via holodecks is laughable.

I always remember that stupid alien that was left alone on a planet with holodecks. Why would anyone leave a place like that? He can go anywhere and do anything.
