I remember an old /tg/ thread where anons were debating over neolithic DND races and what they could be:

>Humans: cro-magnons.
>Dorfs: neanderthals.
>Elves: slendermenish beings.
>Orcs: a subspecies that split apart from homo-sapiens, not unlike the Chimps.

I imagine the Orcs operate as raiders for the 'high races' of the setting, sort of like the homo-tortoro from Crossed. Kidnapping and enslaving all the other human subspecies, to the point where they've driven several to extinction like the hobbits of Indonesia.
