I don't think anyone is asking for a Pokemon that's based on literally nothing at all.
They're more railing against "it's based on something" as a defense for bad designs. Or at most, complaining about Pokemon that don't really go beyond their inspirations to be their own thing.
Look at Slowpoke. What is it? A hippo? An otter? A giant salamander? A sazae-oni? Jadranka Stojaković? An embodiment of the concept of stupidity? All of the above?
You can look for as much inspiration as you want, but the fact that you have to dig so deep and speculate on its inspirations shows that Slowpoke is ultimately just Slowpoke. It's its own thing.
The same goes for other iconic mons like Snorlax, Chansey, the Nidos, Cubone, Eevee... Even Pikachu barely even resembles a mouse.

Compare that to Baxcalibur, who's based on Godzilla and really doesn't go beyond that inspiration. It's just... ice Godzilla.
