American ammo cans make perfect storage containers for silver because they are airtight, waterproof and strong enough to take the weight of the silver. They are also ubiquitous and don't attract attention since people use millions of them for mundane storage tasks.

They have somewhat limited availability in Canada and probably are rare and expensive in Europe. I believe the Canadian military is so cheap (poor) that they reuse their containers.
