If you want a map that isn't part of the cartel, my friend and I finished one recently. We had no outside help (even though we tried, they all ignore you) and had to figure everything out ourselves. 2 months is not nearly enough time to learn this archaic game engine and get something out; you're right that it was heavily stacked towards existing creators. But we still managed to get it out by the 27th and have been progressively polishing it up.
