Just like their boomer forefathers, they get into these positions and then pull the ladder up behind them, ignorant to the fact that people who learn programming typically don't know WHAT to focus on until they're in the field and see what the work is actually composed of.

Ironically, most of them are already burned out from having to adapt to a field innundated with chinese and indian professors who teach in a way that is entirely incompatible to the American academic ideal, where professors actually engaged, guided from the ground up, answered questions, and had enthusiasm. Instead you get a fucking video thrown at you like you're in high school and are expected to follow along, take notes, all while they completely phone it in for the sake of their (typically indian and chinese) master students.

It's all a complete scam from the bottom up and as a cyber security professional, I sincerely cannot wait for the LLMs to get good enough to completely wipe out 90% of these overinflated jobs. I hate the pretense of programmers so fucking much when all they really have going for them is institutional backing, while people who make actually useful tools (see: OpenSSL, DNS, BIND ) .

Fuck you all, they'll never automate security beyond SOAR platforms, and they'll sure as hell never outsource everyone to foreign nationals.
