I can't say whether this is just a phase, the economy is comically worse than 20 years ago and steadily worsening, the job market is even worse, though style-wise I'm very glad to have been born in a time when it's very much acceptable for people to dress in any way most of the time, and wearing a suit looks radical nowadays, so I stand out plenty.
I bought a fedora when I was maybe 15, used it a few times when playing live music and never touched it since I was 18, so I guess I'm already over that phase.

The reason the stitching can come out uneven is because it's done by hand without a guide.
That stitching's clearly not straight, and if you brought it back they'd give you a new one.
This is a picture of me wearing the same model of shirt you posted, and the details were irreproachable.
