The problem occurs when you dont have anything left to want.

What I need is more money so I can get more gold. But then I have to get more money so I can get more gold. But then once I have the gold, I need more money to get more gold.

And then you have more gold, which is proof you dont need it. But the more you have, the more you want it. But you cant do anything with it. But you have to make sure no one else gets it. So you get more. And you look at it and say "I dont need this. I cant use it". And for a split second, you imagine what it would be like to not have it or lose even a little. And now suddenly you want it more than ever. Because someone else might try to get it first.

You see, its a vicious cycle.
