Its just a trend as the technology allows it.
Similarly: Are you keeping a diary written by pen? No? You are missing out.
The lack of effort needed to type is one of its greatest strengths, since it allows your volume to be good. You can form longer coherent prose, more structure, elaboration.
But it also allows you to just pad out your word count.
Then there is the question of the diary: Is the exercise to recall and write, or is it to prose it down? Both can be done, for similar effects.

The longterm goal of the Silicon valley startup has been a form or a exercise in how to spend money.
Not with the goal of going bankrupt, but as a set of exercises as a training wheel to actually make or manage money.
I think its better than being a trustfund baby.
But its also a exercise in finding a outlet, since a lack of a career or ground contact will mean having no concept of what opportunity is.
My personal opinion is that a lot of the trustfund babies would do well if they where forced to do a trade, and then where forced to get a related bachelor. Not because f the nitty gritty, but because it means more perspective of what the investment could be.
Instead we have Elon, Alphabet Group, Microsoft and Zuckerberg competing in making virtual cat girls and trying to compete with mineral and metal refining n energy spending.
