>how do the other games in the series hold up?
>Rondo of Blood is a very fun game. It's the only Classicvania to have a save system. It's both the perfect entry to start with if you want to try older game and the one I'd reccomend to even people who aren't interested in the Classics.
>SotN is the first Metroidvania in the series, and to many, it was their best attempt. Direct sequel to Rondo, but everything you need to know about Rondo is explained in the first few minutes of the game. Almost laughably easy, but it makes up for it. Lots of secrets if you're into that.
>Castlevania 64 is skub. It's as cool as it is frustrating.
>Castlevania Legacy of Darkness is a same console remake of 64. It does some things better, some things worse. It has lots of quality of life improvements, though some of its levels are less interesting and one is just plain not fun. (Tower of Executions in base 64 ran at like 5 fps, but the one in LoD is just plain miserable.)
>Circle of the Moon is skub, just like the other Kobe game.
>Aria of Sorrow is popular for good reason, but after playing HoD or even CotM you'll wish Soma would waddle a little faster.
>Dawn of Sorrow is a sequel to AoS that strangely never got passionate defenders like CotM, HoD, or the 64 games.
