>what do fans of the older titles dislike about SH f
Everything weird that happens in the Silent Hill games should be because of Silent Hill. European pilgrims settled a region that used to have native beliefs, after generations those beliefs had blended into the imported Christian beliefs and become a weird twisted version of both, with the problem that the supernatural powers of that place were actually real. The cult's mistakes in the past caused those powers to run rampant and everyone significantly engaging with them would carry them with them. Alessa's imagination and nightmares turned into monsters. After her death, that void was filled by James returning with his dead wife. Alessa's reincarnation radiated it even outside the town. And Walter Sullivan's cult devotion made his rituals actually work, where ever he was.
Nothing about the reflection of one's own demons in the manifestations can happen if your life has never had anything to do with Silent Hill. In fact, none of that shit can happen at all prior to the events that led to Alessa's burning because it's the suffering and madness of the mother of the dark god that bleeds the otherworld into our world. So, since f takes place in 1960's Japan, it can't be Silent Hill, literally or figuratively. I dislike f because it stole the name of something completely unrelated.
