I've had two of my friends kill them selves. One was living alone in a big city. Lost his job programming for a big medical firm. Got sick. Took some pills. Wrapped himself up in a blanket like he always did when he got sick. And then proceeded to melt off his bed the following weeks.
The other developed schizophrenia after he found out his father had a second family. He became pretty violent and unhinged. Caused a big enough problem that I had to cut him out of my life. He ended up going to that same big city and finding something to OD on in a stairwell.
I went to both of their funerals and I helped the family clean the first one's apartment. It took a while for his stuff to lose that smell. I kept up with everyone else up until 2020. I haven't spoken to anyone except for one of my friends since 2020. And from what I hear from him that's just the way it is anymore. Everyone's gone their separate ways.
