That's not even true.
Every game and achievement has a multiplier associated with it which is effectively based on how difficult they are (really it's based on rarity but rare achievements are usually harder)
So you could play some shitty trivia games with a 1.00x multiplier for easy points, but those points aren't worth anything. You're looking at 25 points for the entire game of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?"
Whereas if you look at Q*Bert for the NES, one of the achievements is worth 19,140 points, and only 1 person has done it on Hardcore Mode (no save states)
It's pretty safe to say that you are rewarded with more points for completely harder challenges
