You think this pertains to how Kris feels like an "outsider" in their own family and how they tend to blame themself for why the Dreemurrs and Holidays fell apart?
Speaking of which, it's kinda interesting in a sense, that Kris might've believed they had A LOT of control as a kid even blaming themself for their parents' divorce. It could be that Kris's therapist had to tell them "your choices don't matter" as a way to exempt them of past guilt. If you didn't have a choice in the outcome you can't be responsible for it. Maybe not having a choice felt freeing at first, until they got older and developed a doomer mentality that nothing can be done to fix anything so it's not worth caring.
Perhaps Kris allowed themselves to be possessed by the SOUL because of how strongly they believed nothing they did mattered and nothing would change.
