I think people are reading too deep into if throwing out objects in the light world is hypothetically killing/torturing the darkners.
It's not meant to be that literal. Darkners just want to fulfill their purpose, when they get old, worn out and thrown away it means they've done their job and are probably happy about it. Think of it like Buddhism.
There are exceptions-like books- that are worth preserving throughout multiple generations so discarding them would be bad. I don't think throwing out a busted radio would upset the radio-darkner, like it would be way more upsetting to it if you kept it on life-support forever instead of letting it live out its natural lifespan and end.
You also have to remember that the TV World fountain was created by Kris so the environment and even Tenna reflects their memories and feelings. Darkners personalities are malleable depending on who created their fountain.
In other words you're not meant to read too deep into it, I think Toby might explain this in the next newsletter so the autistic kids don't feel bad about throwing away their old toys or something.

He explained it with the idea of petrification. Look at the Pippins. None of them turned to stone because they had some idea of purpose even if it was fucking around/being bad employees.
The zapper turned to stone because he understood that he didn't belong at Kris's house and had no purpose (can only control the Cattenheimers TV).
Ramb turned to stone because he never fit in and his only goal was Kris, once the last sword route game was introduced, his purpose was over.
Lancer had no purpose in Cyber world so he petrified in Ch2, in Ch 3 he was a useful video game boy so he didn't petrify, but he understood once his job was done then he was over.
Rouxls didn't turn to stone in Ch 3 because he was getting laid or something.
If Tenna broke, he still works as a Darkner. Hell, he was alive and waiting for Kris/the Dreemurrs to pay attention to him despite being unplugged for half the game. He "dies" if you leave him in the rain because if he isn't in the Dreemurr house, he lost his purpose.
You could interpret Toby's message to be "recycle and repurpose your things" rather than "hoard everything because all items have feelings". Keep things that have use in your house but there's no need to go buy new things excessively

You see, I'm not a true tasquefag until it's full moon.

Beat the Knight again. I've stopped counting in my head but it's about 15-16 wins now. This time was another run from a fresh Ch3 save, but mantleless and with no revivemints or execbuffet due to speeding through the boards and not getting enough points for the machine or going for the mantle. No revivemints is a reasonable compromise to make up for not being able to defeat it no heal (furthest I've gotten is to the final attack).
I didn't start another playthrough just because I wanted to fight them, though. There was this rumor that defeating the Knight would give Kris the Sheath title, regardless of whether they had it previously. This is false. It would've been interesting, but their rank stays the same even if you win.

my first impression of the halfway point thing in chapter 4 was 8 whole ass chapters since the whole thing seems to be moving into an extended melodrama territory, knowing stories with calamitous events I would guess that the roaring is going to happen and the remaining couple chapters are finding a way to recover from that. don't get me wrong I adore the ending where Kris has to seal the castle Town fountain for some reason that one would make me cry but I imagine the roaring unleashed plot the most feasible way to do a straight shot of several chapters without doing prequel/side story chapters

Stories that are strictly written to have characrer trauma at their main focus suffer from trying too hard to sell the trauma for you, so it lives or dies by its presentation. I think Omori is pretty good at it frankly but another problem is how there's not much else to see into the game than the trauma narrative.
Deltarune has traumatized/mentally unwell characters but there's an aventure plot happening hence their trauma serves their characters all integrated within the story, taking focus whenever needed. I don't think neither are better just so deltarune has far more wiggle room for the player's imaginatiom to focus on the things you like and fill them with headcanon and ignore the ones that don't ressonate with you

The TV World does seem different than the other Dark Worlds, Tenna has almost total power within it and you get a bunch of vague lore about how Tenna has built and warped it from its natural state, to the point that even other Darkners are bound to him (eg. the water spirits are under contract to stay as water coolers).
In Chapter 4 you also have the totally different situation with multiple connected Dark Worlds in the same area, with a set of Darkners that definitely "belong" and "have purpose" in the Church petrified from the start in one world and active in another. The "philosophers" seem to attribute this to difference in the mentality of the people who made the Dark World.
