Supergirl was a generic female counterpart to try and get female comic readers. It failed. Her comic and movie bombed and so they killed her ass in Criss. There was a Post Crisis version of her where she was like Venom, an alien takes over a woman’s body and gives her powers. That didn’t do well. They brought the Silver Age version back it’s sucked. Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow which is what movie is a adaption of has been well received and been nominated for shit ton of awards. Because it give Sueprgirl her own personality and not just Superman with tits
