I've played the entries up until Judgement (I had no interest in 4 or 5). I will say that while they were emblematic of that washed out to brown and bloom era of console games, they were fun in their own right as simple but effective titles that were more widely known for the co-op and multiplayer, like most cover shooters and FPS games of the day.

Really I think the fact they lean into bleak atmospheres contrasted against hyperviolent sequences kinda help it. Granted, the cycle of interaction probably isn't enough for anyone now, but I enjoyed curbstomping grubs and using the Longshot for headshots.
