The snail is happily munching on Polish crops. He did it! He got to Poland first!
It tickles me that we kept track of Russia's progress based on where one average garden snail just ceaselessly trundling along in a straight line would be at each specific day of the war.
Russia is far too in love with their own legend to believe they can fail even in a scenario like OP has outlined. The worst part is high casualties are a venerated and expected part of that national legend tot the point where even if you succeed at everything you do minimal casualties is treated as not trying hard enough and thus a failure.
