I had my entire friend group go from open minded free thinkers to absurdly conforming NPCs that actively got mad if you asked basic questions about common truths. The same kind of shit they would have welcomed discussing all throughout highschool. At one point they actively told me they didn't want me to link "random science articles" in the group chat anymore.
This group chat has a Math degree , Chemistry PHD, mechanical engineering degree and Computer Science degree in it and they honestly got annoyed I was sharing random like Scientific American articles for discussion on a Tuesday afternoon.
It was insane to witness such an extreme change in just a few years of college. I'll never forget when the Chemistry PhD and guy with a Computer Science degree started talking about how it would be impossible for them to ever invent something new because -
>Everything in chemistry and programming has already been done, no one person can make advancements anymore so why even try.
Can you imagine saying that about a field you spent 4 - 8 years studying? You can't think of one new idea to try? Children have won awards in both fields for new inventions after they made those statements btw.
