It's no so much about the anglos you see... English becoming the world's unofficial Lingua franca is vital, as mainstream music benefits from major English speaking countries, but it is more complex than that, it has to other things too and even the 2 world wars which happened to put Britain and the US as the good guys, fairly though.
Spanish music did too to some extent because of Spain's strategic geographic features into europe and Latin America's sheer size, but the relevance that the United States and Britain have won't disappear from night to day and then again other countries too such as Canada, Brazil and even Japan and Korea and many others use to a considerable extent the English language for music.
Long story short, it isn't so much about the language itself but the geopolitical context of the world and it'll remain so, but the language just happened to be English, post industrial revolution, if you look for music and poetry before industrialization it's an endless plethora that spans endlessly in all directions.
