>metroidbrainia games. I feel like I've played them all
Have you played La-Mulana? The original Riven, Tunic, The Witness, Painscreek...?
Enigma Of Fear is quite nice yet underrated, heavily recommended if you love OW, Tunic, Lorelei. Probably the most OW-like game I've played with how it's constructed yet I never see OW fans mention it.
Now this is a deep cut, for those who are really autistic with the cryptic stuff and schizo note taking. Reverie https://www.smwcentral.net/?p=section&a=details&id=38068
Don't be put off by it being a mario romhack, it's a massive metroidbrainia, so many clever twists and layers and 'oh shit' eureka moments. I can't convince anyone to play this despite wanting to shout how wild and awesomely designed it is, it's the closest experience I've found to La-Mulana, an absolute joy, and the fact that there's essentially no discourse about it anywhere online just makes it feel even more mysterious and challenging to complete. Any fan of the genre should play it, it pains me that it gets zero attention.
These 2 are really good, short, sweet... and free
