I'm gonna second that other anon and say Ashes. that game was a breath of fresh air coming from mtg. I only play the 1v1 but the solo/co-op mode is there for people who want it. it's ok to test decks with.
I'll give you one collecting reason and three gameplay reasons:

>LCG style so no chase
such a big deal. get so sick of chase rares in magic, year after year. it's an older game now so you can spend real money, but like $500 or $600 will still get you full playsets of everything in the entire game. and they're doing the POD / home print thing so you can order custom decks printed or just proxy. easy as it gets.

>no screw, no flood, practically no fuck-you variance at all
your mana pool is outside the deck (it's tracked with dice) and you choose your starting hand based on your opponent. makes for really tense strategy right from turn one since you're mindgaming to counter him and he's doing the same. you still have some variance from the rest of the deck and the mana dice rolls, but there's a lot of mechanics to hedge around it.

>no easy combo out, control locks or other uninteractive bullshit
instead of turns, the structure is a round where you trade actions one at a time. there are combos but there's never a way to just do 15 things in a row. you have to be sly about it because your opponent always gets the chance to step in and fuck with your setup.

>consistent mana pool is good for deckbuilding
not having to worry about the curve is very freeing. you have all your colors available from turn one, so you can make decks that do really intricate shit. they're always exactly 30 cards, so every spot is precious. and because the decks are small and there's a lot of easy draw, you can usually find your 1-ofs if you really have to. some of the best deck brewing I've ever seen in a game.
