Yeah the finale did seem pretty rushed. I think they probably always had that sad ending planned, but I would have appreciated at least getting to see a bit more of what happens in the wake of her death than just one scene of Puppy lighting a candle.
Or maybe even better, she miraculously comes back from the world of spirits one more time so she can be the person she actually wanted to be for once in her life and watch her daughter grow up
