EU lobbies I've played in recently usually have 3-4 players on each side (sometimes more) and the rest bots. The game doesn't feel in great shape player-wise atm, but maybe the devs will turn it around. I'd say try it for the refund window at least if you do like the characters, the game is still relatively fun despite me not being good at it.

I personally really liked the flippy shooty gameplay. Game hit 24-hour record yesterday funny enough. There's nothing wrong with the palyer-wise shape, it's about the fact their matchmaking system doesn't put all the players in same lobby, THAT'S the issue.
And of course filling with bots.
I could wait 5-10 minutes if it meant I get into a lobby that's only human players. They still haven't changed that around. 300 players is enough for a game where full lobby is 40 players but they WON'T LET US PLAY TOGETHER even now is the issue.

I like Pseudoregalia but i can't recommend it because it's a tech demo at the end of the day and the level design is as plain as grass. You can get hooked on the movement tech and all of that, but all it does is getting you addicted to the idea of doing custom levels and because there's no official modtools or a level builder, no such thing as a happy time with this speedrunbait game.

depending on what you dislike about battle royale there are different versions of it that negate some of the genre's flaws. Reload is faster paced and gives you 3 lives in solo play, and infinitely in a team so long as one person is alive. Blitz is new and skips you to the last 5-6 minutes of a normal game, throwing overpowered stuff at you every minute

I prefer purity of gameplay with minimization of randomness, and BRs are inherently random, while taking the worst parts of the milsim-adjacent games (inventory management, a lot of waiting and slower pace) without actually taking the best parts (high level tactics and coordination, strategy and socialization).
If i want to play a medium-paced shootan, I just boot up BF 2142. If i want to play a fast paced shooters, i boot up unreal or xonotic.
