I'm using AutoOrtho now and it improved the terrain quite a bit. Sometimes it still shits the bed tho and you need to run it before running the sim.
The bigger issue are the roads and buildings, which I think you can fix with Simheaven or other third party mods, but I can't remember if it's free nor easy/user friendly to install.
Xplane is nice but it feels like the devs just plop into your laps a skeleton and expect you to finish it yourself.
I can appreciate this since you can't tailor the experience to your needs and it could become a fully offline long term sim you actually own, but third party modules require an activation code so that will also become a problem in the future.
Oh, and I fucking hate how a lot of the userbase on the Xplane forums often responds to issues, they are the perfect example of boomer mentality, where if you point out a bug or a missing feature they will fight teeth and nails on how it's totally realistic, not a bug but a feature etc.
