I always stick by the GS500 as the best first bike, but honestly that SV650S for $3k would be awesome if it's in good shape.
As long as oil changes were kept up and he wasn't wheely-ing it every day for 4 hours it's probably just fine.
Look up "(year) Suzuki SV650" and search the forums for common issues. And ask the owner about oil/filter changes.
I'd offer like $2750 because I'm a marketplace jew who likes to haggle, but I don't really see $3k as a bad price for an SV.
When I buy a bike, I don't give a shit about the condition of anything except the engine. As long as you keep up on oil changes there's usually nothing wrong. Oil is the life blood of the engine, and retards still neglect it.
If you want the best deal in the world, you just need to find someone who kept up on their oil changes, but not their valve adjustments.
