The scar remains but the pains deadens. Sometimes something re-opens the scar but it's for less long each time. Just be thankful for the happy times, accept that they were part of your life and that you enjoyed them, just like other fond memories not involving her. You don't obsessively think about those over and over, nor should you do so about a girl.

In my case, I still see her a lot so it makes it hard to even think about other females. Just try to enjoy other aspects of life and something will come along when it's ready.
